How did you end up joining the #maker movement?
As I remember I was always involved in tinkering. As a child I was building wooden models and playing with electronics. Few years ago I get interested in Arduino. Then I discovered the maker movement and fablabs. This started founding fablab in Poznań. While working with many materials I discovered my passion for metal and welding.
What do you most value in the innovation/maker environment?
For me very important thing is connecting three agreas: place, machies and people. People are meeting each other in places like fablabs and starting new cooperations. When working together you can learn many things from each other.
What’s the maker movement outlook in your country?
In the 1960-1970 it was very popular because of the famous “Adam Slodowy” TV show. Nowadays we see raising popularity of DIY. More and more people are trying to build/repair something by themselves. In Poland we have now more and more fablabs. What is great, everyone is in touch and cooperating together.
In your opinion, what features in your city/destination/country is more appealing to an innovation-oriented crowd?
In Poznań we have a lot of universities and school. Cooperation between them and fablab is great opportunity to involve young people in making things.
You seem to have been able to create such a nurturing environment around your FabLab/makerspace/hackerspace in (your country). What does your audience look like? Who do you mainly target – students, inventors, or… ?
Our community is diverse. We have hobbysts, students and proffesionals. The biggest group of users is between 25-40 years old. After work they want to spend their free time in creative way.
What do you consider your greatest goal as EMW’s Ambassador?
I will be great to make some platform connecting community in Poland. On the other hand it is great opportunity to start some new international cooperations.
What kind of events are you planning to organize during the EMW?
Workshops and some open events. I want to spread the word about fablabs and makers
